Auditioning with Theatre IV

 

Touring Auditions

Theatre IV holds auditions for actors and singers to perform in our touring season for young audiences. For information about future auditions, please call Ford Flannagan at 804-783-1688 ext. 20 or

Starting salaries for our touring actors are $320.00 per week (before taxes). Actors touring for Theatre IV work under non-A.E.A. contracts for periods ranging from 6 to 20 weeks. Theatre IV provides per diem and hotels/motels for overnight tours and all actors are eligible for an end-of-tour bonus that amounts to $10.00 per performance week. Paid rehearsals begin in either September, January, or March in RICHMOND, VIRGINIA.

Founded in 1975, Theatre IV is the nation's second largest theatre for young audiences, reaching 1,000,000 children, teenagers, and adults all across America. Each year Theatre IV presents more than 2,000 performances of Children's Classics (such as The Jungle Book, Stuart Little, Treasure Island, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), Historical Dramas (such as Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad, I Have A Dream, Buffalo Soldier, Amelia Earhart, Lewis and Clark), and Social Issue Plays (dealing with such topics as Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Child Abuse, Teen Pregnancy, Recycling, etc.).

All auditionees are asked to perform two short, contrasting monologues. Musical performers should also prepare two contrasting, 16-bar songs and bring sheet music in the appropriate key. An accompanist will be provided.

  • SETC - Theatre IV attends both the Fall (early Sept.) and Spring (early March) Southeastern Theatre Conference.
  • NETC - Theatre IV attends the New England Theatre Conference in Massachusetts (mid March).
  • UPTA - We attend the Unified Professional Theatre Auditions in Memphis (early Feb.)
  • MWTA - We attend the MidWest Theatre Auditions in St. Louis (late Feb.).
  • Ohio Theatre Auditions - Columbus, OH
